Pennyroyal Arts Council to host Kentucky Derby watch party

On Saturday, horses will take off down the racetrack at Churchill Downs for the 152nd Kentucky Derby, and The Pennyroyal Arts Council invites the community to their viewing event and after-party.

Council member Crystal Ferreira appeared on WHOP and shared all the details for Saturday’s Picnic with the Pops. The picnic kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre, and Ferreira says they will be hosting a Kentucky Derby watch party with derby-themed food, drinks and activities. Attendees are also encouraged to show up and show out in derby-inspired attire.

However, the fun does not stop there; at 7 p.m., the after-party starts with live music by Saved By The Music – The Ultimate 90’s Tribute Band.

The picnic is also a fundraising event for the council. Ferreira says the funds will be used to ensure the arts remain a key part of the community.

On Saturday, the council will also present two awards, the Volunteer of the Year Award and the Champion of the Alhambra Award, to individuals or organizations that support the council’s work. Tickets for the Picnic with the Pops and the After Party are available at pennyroyalarts.org.
