Man struck by vehicle on I-169 in Christian County

A man was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 169 in Christian County early Friday morning and he was flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment.

That’s according to Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Captain Payton Rogers, who tells WHOP News that it happened near the five-mile-marker in the southbound lanes at just about 4:30 a.m. A vehicle had been traveling in the right lane, when a pedestrian reportedly entered their path of travel and was struck.

EMS crews arrived to find the male victim conscious, but with multiple traumatic injuries, including head trauma and possibly several broken bones.

He was stabilized at the scene and then flown by helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

The names of those involved have not yet been released—the Christian County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
