Murder suspect Oziya Narcisse was supposed to go to trial in April, but now he has a new trial date and a new attorney.
Narcisse appeared alongside defense attorney Doug Moore, who has represented him on this case in the past, in the Christian Circuit Courtroom of Judge John Atkins Wednesday morning. There was a brief discussion about the spelling of Narcisse’s first name in the court paperwork, and what evidence remains to be handed over to the defense, if any.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Gilbert says the prior attorney on the case, Olivia Adams, should have all of that evidence and be able to provide it to Moore. He says the Commonwealth has been ready to go to trial, and they’re eager to get this tried as soon as possible.
Following some discussions of available dates, Judge Atkins set it for trial to start on October 19, and it will likely last several days.
Narcisse is facing a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting death of Isaiah McCoy at a party in Oak Grove in 2024.
