Hopkinsville man charged with strangulation, unlawful imprisonment

A Hopkinsville man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman and broke her cellphone during an altercation Saturday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, the female victim reported an assault to an off-duty police officer, saying that she and 21-year-old Preston Pryor of Hopkinsville had gotten into an argument, where she asked him to leave.

He reportedly did leave at first, but came back into the residence and took her cellphone when she tried to call for help, damaging the phone and causing it to break.  The victim reportedly tried to leave with her child, which is when Pryor allegedly grabbed her around the neck and threw her down.

The victim was eventually able to get free and reported the incident.

Pryor was arrested and charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and third-degree criminal mischief.
