Following Tuesday’s Primary Election, citizens can expect to see some new and returning faces to the Hopkinsville City Council and the Christian County Fiscal Court.
In City Council Ward One, Republican incumbent Vance Smith lost to newcomer Chance Andrew Tatum. Smith received 15 votes while Tatum received 23 votes. Tatum will face Democratic newcomer Sharon Manning in the fall’s General Election. In Ward Two, Republican newcomer Adrian Bruce is set to be the next city council member, as she is uncontested.
Ward Three Republican incumbent Don Marsh defeated current Ward Two Council Member Brandi Stallons. Marsh received 61 votes while Stallons received 38 votes. This will be Marsh’s third term representing Ward Three, as he has no opponents in the General Election. Marsh says he looks forward to continuing his work and thanked those who trust him to represent the ward.
In Ward Four, Republican Terry Parker will be the next city council member, as he is uncontested. Parker is no stranger to the council as he has represented Ward Seven in the past.
Then, Ward Five Democratic newcomer Carolyn Marie Hughes and Republican newcomer Anna Norris will go head-to-head in the General Election. In Ward Six, Republican incumbent Travis Martin is set to serve another term, as he is uncontested. Similarly, Ward Seven Republican incumbent Clayton Sumner is also uncontested, and he will therefore serve another term.
In Ward Eight, Republican newcomer Stephen Crisp and Democratic newcomer Tiffany Pittman will go head-to-head in the general election.
Ward Nine Republican incumbent Brittanie Bogard lost to Jamie Lienberger. Bogard received 27 votes while Lienberger received 32 votes. Lienberger represented Ward Nine prior to Bogard, and in the General Election, she will face Monike Love, who won the Democratic Primary. She received 75 votes while Duane Shepard received 29 votes and Ardell Owens received 67 votes.
In Ward 10, Republican incumbent Mike Velez lost to Steve Keel. Velez received 61 votes while Keel received 93 votes. Keel represented Ward 10 prior to Velez, and in the General Election, he will face Democratic newcomer Angelita Atkins.
In Ward 11, Republican incumbent Jason Bell will face Democratic newcomer Andrew Santos-Rickard in the General Election. Then, Ward 12 Republican incumbent Elizabeth Draude is set to serve another term as she is uncontested.
Hopping over to Christian County Fiscal Court, District One Magistrate Magaline Ferguson and District Two Magistrate Josh Turner are set to serve another term as they are both uncontested. District Three Republican incumbent George Barnett defeated newcomer Tana Loden. Barnett received 460 votes while Loden received 265 votes. He will face Democratic newcomer Faith Watkins in the General Election.
In District Four, Republican Incumbent J.E. Pryor is set to serve another term as he is uncontested. In District Five, three Republican newcomers faced off, and Austin Crawford was the winner. He received 312 votes, Virginia Hurt-Erxleben received 20 votes and Jonathan Zordel received 149 votes. Crawford will face Democrat James Smith in the General Election.
District Six Republican incumbent Philip Peterson is set to serve another term, as he is uncontested. Then, in District Seven, two Republican newcomers faced off, and Todd Morris was the winner. He received 381 votes while his opponent, John Heltsley, received 295 votes. Morris faces no opponents in the General Election and says it has been his lifelong dream to be a magistrate. He enjoyed connecting with his constituents during his campaign.
Lastly, in District Eight, Republican incumbent John Bruce lost to Republican newcomer Lucas Stagner. Bruce received 281 votes while Stagner received 441 votes. Stagner has no opponents in the General Election and says he is grateful to the voters and to his friends and family who supported him during his campaign.
