An Indiana man has been identified as the victim in a fatal, fiery car crash on Grapevine Road in Hopkins County on Wednesday.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, investigation has determined that the victim of that crash was 42-year-old Nathan Payne of Evansville, Indiana. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle that left the roadway on Grapevine Road, entering the area of Grapevine Cemetery, and struck a tree head-on.
That’s where the car caught fire, and was fully involved in flames when first responders arrived.
It’s unknown why the vehicle left the roadway. The investigation continues into the crash.
