One injured in three-vehicle collision on East Ninth Street

A Hopkinsville woman was injured in a three-vehicle crash on East Ninth Street early Tuesday morning.

According to the report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, it happened just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of East Ninth Street and the ramp for I-169. A vehicle driven by Zackary Tompkins of Hanson was heading westbound, while two other vehicles were stopped at the stoplight on East Ninth.

Tompkins allegedly told officers he had looked down to locate something in his vehicle, and when he looked back up, he saw that cars had stopped but he didn’t have time to stop himself. He collided with the back of one vehicle, sending it into the car in front of it.

The driver of one of those vehicles, Jamila Henry of Hopkinsville, was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the crash. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
