Familiar foes UHA, O-Cath set for All ‘A’ showdown

University Heights Academy will take its next step in the school’s first Touchstone Energy All “A” State Baseball Tournament championship drive when it faces No. 10-ranked Owensboro Catholic on Saturday at Daviess County High School.

Blazers’ coach Michael Crow said his team is playing good baseball entering this weekend.

The seventh-ranked Blazers are 16-3, and the Aces enter the game 13-5. The two teams met earlier this season with UHA winning 4-1. They also played last year with the Aces claiming a 5-1 victory.

Crow said he expects Saturday’s game to be a battle of who wants it more.

The Blazers have played five ranked teams already this season and played emotional games with District 8 rival Christian County twice in three days earlier this week. They have not played since rolling past St. Mary 14-1 in five innings in the Sectional game Tuesday night.

Crow said his team should be healthy and ready to go on Saturday.

UHA has never advanced past the quarterfinal round on the All “A” State Baseball Tournament. The last time they advanced this far was in 2016.

First pitch for Saturday’s quarterfinal matchup is 3 p.m. with airtime at 2:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased at GoFan.com.
