The Hoptown Hoppers’ bats were held in check on Wednesday night and Madisonville earned a 3-0 win at Christian County High School’s Colonel Field.
Caden Wooldridge tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout for the Miners, who improved to 11-20 on the season and are now only a half-game behind Hoptown for fifth place in the OVL standings.
Owen Boswell took the loss for Hoptown although he allowed only one run and three hits in five innings.
The Miners took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, taking advantage of a hit batter, walk and a single.
Madisonville made it 3-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Dom Bello, Tyler Casserly, and Jordan Carter had the only hits for the Hoppers, who slipped to 11-19 on the season.
Hoppers pitchers teamed to allow only three hits on the night. Former Trigg County High School star Aidon Butts and Hezekiah Scott teamed to toss four innings of hitless relief.
Hoptown is on the road tonight against the Full Count Rhythm. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. in Hendersonville, Tenn.
