Wood pitches, hits UHA past Lady Falcons

Katherine Wood tossed a two-hitter and University Heights Academy took advantage of 15 walks and four Fort Campbell errors to defeat the Lady Falcons 20-4 in a three-inning District 8 softball game Tuesday on Post.

Wood, who struck out six and did not allow a walk, also scored three runs and drove in two runs to help herself at the plate.

UHA broke a four-game losing streak and improve to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in district play. One of those losses was a forfeit to Christian County.

The Lady Blazers scored six runs in the top of the first and then added seven in both the second and third frames.

Ann Hampton had a single and drove in a pair of runs and Oliva Oakley, Madison Williams, and Emily Dilday also had hits for UHA.

Fort Campbell, which scored one run in the bottom of the second and three in the third, slipped to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in district play.

University Heights Academy is off until April 28 when they will play host to Fort Campbell.
