One person was killed and another was injured in a collision on the Pennyrile Parkway Sunday afternoon.
It happened near the 22-mile-marker just after 1 p.m. and Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Captain Payton Rogers told WHOP that crews arrived to find CPR in progress on a female victim. That woman was declared deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner, while a male victim was transported to Jennie Stuart Health for possible injuries.
Preliminary investigation showed that the woman was outside of the vehicle, where it was stopped in the emergency shoulder, when the vehicle was struck by another. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
Kentucky State Police are investigating the incident, and the roadway will likely stay closed for several more hours while reconstructionists are on scene.
