Wilson Academy Prep needed a game in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Hoops Classic and Hopkinsville High School basketball coach Anthony Babb wanted to see how his team would compete.
Both got what they wanted Saturday night as Wilson Academy came away with a hard-fought 75-56 win over the Tigers in a game that does not count on the Hoptown record.
Jonathan Hart hit six 3-pointers and had 19 points and James Bradley Jr. added 15 points for the Tigers (1-4).
The prep school out of Georgia led 16-13 after one quarter and only 29-19 at halftime as Babb’s Tigers hung in there for the first two periods.
Wilson Academy hit seven 3-pointers in the second half to pull away from Hoptown.
Jeromiah Ruffin led Wilson with 20 points and AJ Etienne provided 17.
Hopkinsville plays host to Webster County on Tuesday night at 7:30. The F&M Bank Pregame show will air at 7:15 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
