Veteran that called Hopkinsville home for years getting ready to celebrate 102nd birthday

The call is going out for letters, cards and greetings for a World War II veteran is this about to celebrate his 102nd birthday, and his is a familiar name to Hopkinsville. 

Although he now lives in the Louisville area to be closer to family, James “Ralph” Cochran Sr. lived in Hopkinsville for many, many years, where he and his wife Dorothy Mae Cochran were both longtime educators and business owners.

He was the owner of Cornette’s Office Supply for many years in Hopkinsville and was a radio operator in World War II from 1943 until 1946, and he married Dorothy Mae in 1943. They settled in Hopkinsville and would call it home for a long time.

Now, he’s getting ready to celebrate his 102nd birthday on January 26 and family members and veteran officials are asking for those who hold a memory of him and his time in Hopkinsville to send him a card or a letter as a birthday gift.
