University Heights Academy senior Logan Miller will run track next season for Northern Kentucky University.
UHA Track Coach Carter Hendricks made the announcement Wednesday evening.
Miller said he reached out to the school in the middle of the track season and Norse coaches responded quickly.
“Coach Kruse graciously responded and we had a great conversation about the process and the times he wanted me to reach in my 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles,” Miller said. “Fortunately, I got close enough to those times and Coach Hendricks and I kept sending the NKU coaches updates on my season. The night before the state championship meet, Coach Longano said they had a spot for me on the team.”
Miller said he will be running the 400-meter hurdles for the Norse and said he was excited to compete in college at the Division-I level.
“It’s always been my dream to compete in college at the Division-I level,” he said.
Miller said he was attracted to the school due to its size and that its not too close or too far from home.
“I also liked its proximity to Cincinnati, and its internship opportunities and how they can help with my career path,” Miller said.
Miller said he plans to major in sports business and event management and thanked his teammates and coaches for helping him reach his goals.
Miller was part of the UHA 4×400-meter relay team that set a school record with a time of 3:27.25 and finish second in the Class 1-A State Track and Field Meet last month.
He was also part of the 4×200-meter relay team that took sixth place in 1:31.94.
Logan Miller finished ninth in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.56 seconds and he was 10th in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.82 seconds.
Miller is the second UHA athlete to sign with Northern Kentucky University this spring. Golfer Conlee Lindsey also signed with the Norse.
