Two Murray residents hurt in I-24 crash

Two Murray residents were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a single-vehicle crash on I-24 early Sunday morning.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department report, a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Maria Magana-Pacheco of Murray was heading westbound near the 85-mile-marker when she reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel.  The vehicle drifted and scraped the cable barrier, waking Pacheco, then she overcorrected attempting to get back onto the roadway.

It struck the barrier once again before coming to a stop in the left lane.

Two passengers in the vehicle were transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threating injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
