Two charged in alleged assault, theft of a vehicle in Hopkinsville

Two Hopkinsville residents are facing charges following an investigation into a disturbance on West Seventh Street on Tuesday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to the area of the playground in the 1400 block of West Seventh for reports of a physical altercation at approximately 2:20 p.m. They made contact with the victim, who informed them that she and 22-year-old Jakonyae Fox of Hopkinsville had gotten into a verbal and physical confrontation.

That’s when Fox allegedly punched her with a closed first and then is alleged to have struck her in the face with a gun, causing serious physical injury. He then reportedly left the area in the victim’s vehicle, without having permission to drive it.

At some point, he is reported to have given the keys to 40-year-old Savannah Fox of Hopkinsville, who allegedly took the vehicle and drove it unlawfully. The vehicle was located later in the day on West First Street, while Savannah Fox was taken into custody.

Jakonyae Fox was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and felony theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, while Savannah Fox is charged with felony receiving stolen property.
