There’s still time for teachers and school systems to apply for a grant through the Tennessee Valley Authority’s STEM Classroom Grant Program to help further STEM education.
Speaking with WHOP News recently, TVA spokesman Adam May says the program is set to provide upwards of $1.5 million to fund STEM learning projects in classrooms across the TVA’s service region, and he would leave to see more grants awarded to western Kentucky. He says it’s easy to apply—just head to online to TVA.com/STEM and enter the details of your project and how it will benefit students.
Projects with preference given to applications that align with explore TVA’s primary area of focus such as energy, environmental stewardship, economic development, and career development, and community problem-solving.
May says teachers or school administrators in both public or private schools can apply, and he says to really flesh out the descriptions on your project or program.
The deadline to apply is September 15, so get those applications in now—grants of up to $5,000 could be awarded. Last year, there were 715 grant applications received, and 343 were selected for funding. More than 130,000 students in 105 counties representing all of TVA’s seven state region were impacted by the funding in 2023-2024 cycle.
