With Tennessee Valley Authority’s 90th anniversary of service to the region, TVA Historian Pat Ezzell and Senior Social Media Specialist Ashley Walker are going on an adventure, visiting locations within TVA’s service region and recently they recently made a pitstop in Western Kentucky.
As a part of the series, “Pat and Ashley’s Excellent Adventure” the duo are visiting 50 different locations in 10 cities in seven different states with only nine weeks to do it. The TVA recently posted to social media about their adventures in Western Kentucky visiting Kentucky Dam and recreational areas at Land Between the Lakes and Patti’s 1880’s Settlement.
Ezzell shares that their adventure serves to not only highlight energy facilities, but recreational and community spaces in the TVA region.
The duo was given a tour of Kentucky Dam the longest dam in the TVA system. According to their guide Kentucky Dam Plant Manager Kenny Duffy the dam is over 8,000 feet long and generates 220 megawatts of power a day.
Walker says their adventure is a chance for them to also meet and talk with community members.
Walker and Ezzell then made pitstops at Patti’s 1880’s Settlement, Fort Henry Trails, the Woodland Nature Station and learned about LBL camping options. Episodes of the pair’s adventures are available at tva.com.
