With the arrival of Spring and heading full steam-ahead towards Summer, the Tennessee Valley Authority is gearing up for visitors and educational grants.
The Kentucky Dam Visitor’s Center reopened this past weekend, and speaking with WHOP recently, Ralph Rose with the TVA Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. invited everyone to make a stop while you’re out traveling this summer. You can learn a whole lot about the TVA, power generation, the history of the Dam itself and more, and Rose says it’s all made possible by the TVA Bicentennial Volunteers.
The Bicentennial Volunteers are TVA retirees who continue to serve the region even after their last day of work at the TVA—there are approximately 235 BVI volunteers serving and they’ve contributed over 240,000 hours of service.
The TVA is also now accepting applications from school systems, educators and non-profits for their annual robotics grants, with TVA Spokesperson Adam May saying they could have a chance to be awarded up to $5,000.
May says that money could be used in numerous ways, such as investing in a current robotics program, or getting one started.
The deadline to apply at tva.com/robotics is May 15. Successful applicants will be notified this summer.
