Alexander Heck and Dakota Heck started the week charged with murder and complicity to murder, respectively, in connection with the death of an infant in 2022, but following a week of trial, a jury has found them not guilty.

Trial wrapped up Friday, after the jury heard from experts, detectives and multiple testimonies, and then they deliberated for just under two hours, where they found Alexander Heck not guilty on the charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Dakota Heck was found not guilty on the charge of complicity to murder.

Both had been facing charges in connection to the death of an infant that was reportedly staying in the Heck home, along with the mother, at the time the incident occurred in March of 2022 in Christian County. The defense has maintained that Alexander Heck was the one who found the 15-month-old unresponsive at the time and called 911.
