Following the EF-2 tornado that caused damage in Todd County on Saturday, Todd County Emergency Management shared a post to Facebook updating residents on where those affected can receive aid and the status of debris clean up.
After initial damage assessments, Emergency Management found that 18 residences were damaged by the tornado three of which were determined to have been destroyed. Those who have been affected by the tornado can receive assistance with food, water and shelter by calling their dispatch center at 270-265-2501 or the County Judge’s Office at 270-265-9966 ext. 224.
Impacted roadways have been reopened after debris removal efforts, but Emergency Management advises for those cleaning up debris along county roads to leave the collected debris in separate piles of tree and brush and building debris within reach of the road.
Along with establishing clear roads, utilities across the county have also been restored.
According to Emergency Management, a disaster declaration has not been made at the federal level and FEMA assistance will not be considered until a declaration is made. Emergency Management has no information regarding when a declaration will be made and says it can take months or even years until they receive federal aid.
