Thompson to play for Hoppers this summer

Former Hopkinsville High School and Heritage Christian Academy pitcher JJ Thompson will be on the Hoptown Hoppers roster this summer.

Thompson’s father, Jeromy, said on the Early Bird Show this morning that his son has agreed to play for the Hoppers this season and will mainly be used as an outfielder and hitter. He is not expected to pitch much this summer.

JJ Thompson helped Wright State capture the Horizon League regular season championship over the weekend.

The freshman pitcher is 2-0 with a 4.35 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 28 walks this season. Wright State is 30-15 overall and 21-3 in the Horizon League.
