The six U.S. soldiers killed in an Iranian missile strike in Kuwait have since been identified and were reportedly supporting Fort Knox’s 1st Theater Sustainment Command.
According to the Department of Defense, the command unit was supporting Operation Epic Fury, a bombing campaign against Iran. The operation launched on February 28, and on March 1, Iranian forces launched a missile at Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, which resulted in the deaths.
The soldiers supporting the Fort Knox unit were reportedly a part of the 103rd Sustainment Command, an Army Reserve Unit based in Des Moines, Iowa. Four of the six fallen soldiers have been identified as Captain Cody Khork, 35, of Florida; Sergeant First Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Nebraska; Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor, 39, of Minnesota and Sergeant Declan Coady, 20, of Des Moines.
According to Fort Knox personnel, the names of the other two victims will be made public once their families have been notified of their deaths.
Brigadier General Clint Barnes of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command says it is with deep sadness and unyielding grief that they acknowledge and recognize the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
