Temperature fluctuations could bring rain to the area this week

It feels very different outside to start this week, with much cooler temperatures in place compared to our high-80’s from over the weekend—but don’t worry, because the warm will bounce back quickly.

In fact, Forecaster Rachel Trevino with the National Weather Service in Paducah says it will start warming up as soon as Tuesday and reach near 90 by Thursday, before a cold front rolls back through and knocks us back down again.

That cold front will bring with a chance for rain and maybe a couple of storms, but Trevino says our rainfall amounts are really going to depend on how fast the front is moving.

In the 8-to-14-day outlook, she says our warm spring looks to continue with temperatures trending well above normal, and there could be some active weather around the first of April, but that remains to be seen.

It was incredibly warm over the weekend, with many areas breaking temperature records across the region, with some places to our west cresting into the 90’s on Sunday. We can only hope that’s not signs of a very hot summer.
