Suspect in Hopkins Co. shooting apprehended

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department has taken the man sought in connection with a shooting that happened Friday into custody.

According to a news release, 45-year-old Calvin Long Jr. of Nortonville was taken into custody on a warrant for first-degree assault and possession of a firearm by convicted felon in connection to the shooting that happened on Blanche Avenue last week. 

As previously reported, Long and 48-year-old Christopher Almon had gotten into an argument that became violent that resulted in Almon sustaining a gunshot wound to the hip. Almon was transported to a hospital for treatment. 

Long is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
