Summer Salute gets underway in downtown Hopkinsville

Hoptown Summer Salute kicked off in downtown Hopkinsville on Friday with food and merchandise vendors.

The annual festival got underway at around 11 a.m. and Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Toby Hudson says the weather is perfect for the festival and they have had a great afternoon crowd.

The Jimmy Church Band is Friday’s headlining act and the fun continues on Saturday with country artist Tyler Booth at 6:15 p.m. and the band Parmalee at 8:15 p.m. Before the performers take to the stage, Hudson says the vendor alley will reopen at 11 a.m. and the Kid’s Zone will reopen at noon on Saturday.

Hudson says he is happy Parks and Recreation can continue hosting this festival for the community and is excited for what the rest of the weekend holds.
