Summer Reading wraps up as a big success at the public library

It’s a wrap on the Summer Reading Program with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, and this year boasted of hundreds of participating readers.

The reading hour logs just kept coming in during the wrap-up party held last weekend, where participants got to meet some fun, furry creatures, play games, eat sweet treats and most importantly, win prizes for all the reading they did over the summer.

Mari-Alice Jasper with the library as the Big Top Circus themed party was a huge hit, and it was a great way to wrap up their summer reading program.

She says they had roughly 500 readers during this year’s friendly competition, and they’re still working through the logs to determine exactly how many hours Christian Countians read this summer.

Summer Reading is for people of all ages and genres, but their efforts are especially focused on keeping students reading while they’re out of school. Jasper says they had some special community readers during this year’s program.

Now, the library is getting back to business as normal—which means staying busy with day-to-day services, a heap of community programming, and of course, their ongoing renovation, which is slowly coming together and giving the public library a new lease on life.
