Storms, rain chances to start the week

Rain chances will kick off the week, hopefully bringing some drought relief, before sunny skies and mild temperatures herald in the weekend.

There is a solid chance for beneficial rain, with the best chance Tuesday into Wednesday, and Forecaster Rachel Trevino with the National Weather Service in Paducah says there is a chance for thunderstorms as well, though they’re not too concerned about severe weather at this time.

Those storms will bring rain with them however, where they could drop up to two inches of rain, with isolated higher amounts possible. Trevino says, with how dry the area has been, flooding issues aren’t likely.

It will also be windy for the first half of the week, which could bring an increased fire hazard risk, but hopefully the rain will keep that low.

In the 8-to-14 day outlook, it looks like things are going to warm back up, with warmer than average temperatures trending in the data, along with below average chances of precipitation.
