It’s not too late to apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan with the U.S. Small Business Administration, if your business was affected by severe weather in the spring of 2025.
Two different weather events affected businesses and individuals this year, including historic levels of flooding in April and then tornadoes in May in Christian and Todd County. Those that were impacted by April’s severe weather have until January 26, 2026 to apply for a loan, and those impacted by May’s severe weather have until February 23, 2026 to apply
Julie Garrett with the SBA says the loans aren’t only for businesses who experienced physical damages, but for those who might have lost a supplier or seen a dip in customers as a result of severe weather.
She says it can help you pay those bills, and you don’t have worry about repaying on this loan for up to a year, giving you time to get back on your feet.
Garrett says it’s easy to apply—just head online to sba.gov/disaster and fill out the form.
You’ll need to supply contact information, financial information, a complete copy of your most recent federal income tax return, insurance information and employee id numbers. The loans come with a 4% interest rate for businesses and 3.62% interest rate for nonprofits. Â
Administration members processing applications will examine the business’s financial records from before and after the severe weather event to determine the loan amount. For additional information, you can call the SBA at 800-659-2955.
