Statewide unemployment rates decrease, local rates slightly rise

For October the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet reports that statewide unemployment rates have seen a slight decrease since September, while local rates have had a slight increase.

The cabinet shared that the state unemployment rate for October was 3.8% dropping from September’s rate of 4.1% and matching that rate from October 2022.

In the Pennyrile region the October unemployment rate remained 4.7% from September. However, across Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties unemployment rates seen a slight rise since September. Christian Couty’s October rate increased to 5.5% from 5.1%, Todd County’s rate increased to 3.9% from 3.8% and Trigg County’s rate increased to 4.6% from 4.5%.
