After receiving Kentucky’s vote to retain his seat as governor, Andy Beshear was publicly sworn in along with his Lieutenant Governor, Jacqueline Coleman at Tuesday’s inauguration.
Before the pair were sworn in, they spoke about their work during their first term and what they want to make happen for Kentucky in the future. With the inauguration theme of “Forward Together” Coleman started her speech by reminded Kentuckians that there is more that unites them than divides them.
Coleman reminded Kentuckians of all the challenges they were able to overcome such as the COVID-19 Pandemic, tornadoes in the west and flooding in the east. Coleman says facing those challenges Kentuckians put their best foot forward to help one another.
Looking to the next four years of her term, Coleman says she is focused on preparing the next generation of Kentuckians and thanked educators for their work in preparing today’s youth.
After Coleman was sworn in, Beshear took to the podium and thanked Kentuckians for entrusting him with the state’s future. Beshear says his campaign will continue to bring economic prosperity to Kentucky and emphasized his promises of investing in to educators, expanding broadband internet and revitalizing communities devastated by storms.
Concluding his speech, Beshear pledged to serve all Kentuckians regardless of their political party and to create better livelihoods for the next generation.
The inauguration concluded with Beshear being sworn in as governor for the next four years.
