Sportsplex Assistant Coordinator highlights summer event itinerary

Summer is underway and the Hopkinsville Sportsplex has a wide variety of events on the calendar to help folks stay active while beating the heat.

Along with multiple sports tournaments coming up, Assistant Programming Coordinator Jason Wells says Christmas in July will take over the sportsplex on July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual vendor market is in its sixth year, and Wells says they are set to have over 85 vendors selling woodwork pieces, 3D printed toys, homemade desserts, clothes and much more.

Pickleball has grown quite popular and the sportsplex now has pickleball courts open for casual play through July. Wells say they can accommodate up to nine courts, and it costs $5 per player. The pickleball ball court availability schedule can be found at hopkinsvillesportsplex.com.

For the pickleball players with a competitive edge, the sportsplex is hosting a tournament on August 29. Registration is available and costs $25 per player. Then, the sportsplex is set to have an indoor wiffleball tournament on July 18, and the team registration deadline is July 3 and costs $125.

The summer heat has been intense, and that can impact those who enjoy going outside for a daily stroll to get their steps in. Wells says Monday through Friday, the sportsplex is open from 8 a.m. to noon for folks who want to walk laps around the track.
