A wreck involving two semi-trucks and a passenger car on Friday evening shut down Interstate 24 in the area of the 86-mile marker in Christian County for nearly 24 hours, causing major traffic issues.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Rodriguez Lamothe of Florida was traveling eastbound in a tractor-trailer. While Lamothe was stopped in traffic, he was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer driven by Svetislav Nedelikovic of Illinois.
As a result of the collision, Lamothe’s truck was pushed forward and hit a passenger car operated by Kay Papin of Missouri.
One of the trucks spilled talc onto the roadway, and another truck caught fire, shutting down the roadway. Once the fire was addressed, work began immediately to clean up the spill.
Nedelikovic reportedly told first responders that he tried stopping before the collision but was unable to. He was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center after sustaining multiple injuries.
