Hopkinsville and Christian County Middle Schools, Christian County High School and Gateway Academy were temporarily placed on high alert Thursday afternoon because of a community situation.
The Christian County Public School System was advised by local law enforcement to follow high alert practices. Hopkinsville Police Public Information Officer Collette Marfil, says the school system received a concerning message which is being investigated by officers, but out of concern they advised for certain schools to enter high alert.
CCPS Director of Communications, Johnna Brown says high alert is not a lock down it means their may be a threat outside of the schools. Students were still able to continue classes, but were advised to remain inside the building and no one was allowed on or off campus.
CCPS posted an update at 1:20 p.m. announcing that they were given the all-clear by law enforcement regarding the possible threat and classes resumed normally. Â Â
