The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin blocking KY 853 in Muhlenberg County next week to replace cross drains, so motorists need to be aware of rolling closures.
According to a news release, starting Monday, the roadway will be blocked periodically to allow for personnel to remove and replace damaged drainage tiles under the pavement. The closure will be limited to the area near where the tiles are being replaced that day, then will move as work progresses.
Depending on weather and other factors, the closure may not be in effect every day.
There are 11 cross drains scheduled to be replaced during this project and it will likely be necessary to leave the closures in place over night to allow the new concrete time to cure.
The project area runs from KY 189 to Cave Springs Road with work tentatively scheduled to completed by mid-April.
