A resolution does remain on the table in the case against murder suspect Shakkory Willis, with proceedings continued in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
Willis is represented by defense attorney Eric Bearden, who informed the court that he has made a counter-offer with the Commonwealth, they just need more time to speak with the victim’s family.Â
Judge John Atkins set a pretrial conference for January 31, with the hope this case will be settled by that time or they’ll set it for trial.
Willis is charged with murder in the 2019 fatal shooting death of Corvyan Thomas.
Willis was found guilty of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor at trial 2021, in relation to a robbery that resulted in the death of Corvyon Thomas—but the jury was unable to come to a decision on the murder charge, resulting in a mistrial.
Willis is currently serving a 33 year sentence on those charges.
