Resolution possible for elder abuse, murder suspect

Elder abuse and murder suspect, Ann Harrison of Oak Grove appeared in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday where a resolution to her case is being worked on.

Harrison was arrested in connection to the death of 70-year-old Anthony Gilstrap in 2022 who she was responsible for taking care of. Harrison is facing charges of murder, neglect, exploitation and criminal abuse.

Defense attorney Doug Moore appeared with Harrison on Stephanie Mize’s behalf. Moore shared that he and Commonwealth’s Attorney, Maureen Leamy have had discussions and believe they will be coming to a resolution which Leamy confirmed.

Moore also requested for Harrison’s ankle monitor to be removed which was granted. At Harrison’s prior court appearance in January, a financial audit report concerning around $80,000 was being prepared to address the exploitation charges Harrison faces. The status of the audit was not mentioned in court on Wednesday.

Harrison will reappear in court on April 24 where a resolution should be established.
