Rep. Dossett once again returns unused postage funds to the general fund

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke has once again returned his unused postage funds to taxpayers, continuing a 15-year-long commitment to that pledge.

According to a news release, this marks the 15th year that Representative Dossett has returned those funds to the general fund for use—this year that amount was $1,104.80, and with an average of roughly $1,000 returned each year, that means approximately $15,000 has been returned since he began doing this.

Dossett’s personal emphasis on in-person meetings, as well as phone calls and emails, allows for less money to be spent on postage.

Dossett has served for 20 years now in Frankfort, and with no opponent currently on the ballot, he’s looking to do it for at least the foreseeable future.

He says, “I’ve always been extremely prudent in how I spend my postage funds. Proper usage of taxpayer funds by the legislature is even more important after the embarrassing mismanagement of funds by the governor’s office, resulting in the shortfall of the Meals on Wheels program for seniors in our state and nearly a billion dollars of over-payments out of Medicaid.”
