Rain, then frigid temperatures and a chance for the first snow of the season

For the first time this winter season, the word snow is in the forecast—along with frigid temperatures and rain chances.

There will be chances for rain through most of the week leading up to Thanksgiving Day, but Forecaster Rachel Trevino with the National Weather Service in Paducah says the greatest chance for rainfall will be Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

That rain will be along a cold front and it’s taking its name seriously, as temperatures are set to plunge behind it—it very well could get down into the teens by the start of next week.

And there’s even a chance of snow in the forecast for Saturday into Saturday night, but don’t get too excited just yet, as Trevino says at this time, whatever did manage to fall wouldn’t amount of much in the way of accumulation.

It’s looking like cold temperatures will stick around for a while, as the 8-to-14 day outlook is showing temperatures below average and below average chances for precipitation—possibly signaling a hard end to the growing season and the start of more seasonal temperatures.
