Governor Andy Beshear and President Donald Trump have announced the approval of a federal request for aid, with Public Assistance coming for 64 counties that were affected by severe storms, tornadoes and historic flood in April.
Also approved was public assistance for the 36 counties affect by severe storms in mid-May, and for both declarations, that locally includes Christian, Todd, Trigg, Hopkins, Logan, Lyon, Muhlenberg and Warren counties.
According to a news release, the President personally reached out to Governor Beshear by phone to let him know the funding had been approved, and the Governor thanked him and spoke well of FEMA operations happening in the state.
