Hopkinsville Police charged 31-year-old Michael Paxton of Hopkinsville for strangulation after he reportedly assaulted a victim on Friday.
According to a report, the assault occurred at a location on Apache Drive. The victim witnessed Paxton harming a dog and pulled him away from the dog. Paxton then reportedly began to assault the victim.
The victim reportedly told officers that Paxton pinned them to the ground and placed his arm across their throat which led to them nearly passing out. Officers reported that the victim had multiple visible injuries and complained of pain.
The assault reportedly ended when another dog bit Paxton which led to him fleeing the scene. Paxton later returned to the scene and he was charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
