Police arrest man for drug trafficking following search warrant execution

Demarcus McCarley, age 39, was arrested after the Special Investigative Unit and the S.W.A.T team from the Hopkinsville Police Department executed a search warrant on a residence that reportedly unveiled multiple controlled substances on Wednesday.

According to a report, the search warrant was served at a residence on McKee Street and as officers arrived at the residence, McCarley attempted to flee in a rental vehicle ramming into a police cruiser while doing so. Officers reportedly surrounded McCarley’s vehicle and he was then taken into custody without further incident.

A search of the residence allegedly revealed cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana and a handgun.

McCarley was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, three counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, resisting arrest and operating a vehicle on a suspended license.
