Hopkinsville Police arrested 35-year-old Amber Martin of Madisonville and 35-year-old Brandon Gossett of Madisonville when the vehicle the pair was operating was reported to have been stolen.
On Tuesday, police were notified that one of their traffic cameras captured the license plate of a stolen white Cadillac being operated on East 18th Street. The responding officer traveled to the vehicle’s location and reportedly performed a felony stop on the vehicle on Fort Campbell Boulevard.
Martin, who was driving the vehicle and Gossett who was in the front passenger seat were taken into custody. When asked by the arresting officer, Martin says she took the vehicle the week prior and when the owner requested it be brought back, she says it did not have any gas at the time and was not able to take it back.
Martin also reportedly admitted to having drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, officers found several used needles, a clear glass smoking device with residue and a spoon with residue. The residue was suspected to be from methamphetamine.
Upon arrest, Gossett reportedly lied to officers regarding his identity, which led to officers having to figure out his name themselves.
Martin was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gossett was charged with receiving stolen property and giving officers false identifying information.
