Police arrest Hopkinsville woman for assault following attempted break-in

Hopkinsville Police arrested 21-year-old Carrie Johnson of Hopkinsville after she reportedly attempted to break into a home which led to a physical altercation on Sunday.

Officers received a report of a theft in progress at a residence on South Henderson Drive. At the scene, Johnson was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and was in a physical struggle with the homeowner.

Johnson allegedly broke a window pane to a side door which alerted the homeowner to the attempted break-in and they found her inside their car in the carport. She then attacked the homeowner with pepper spray and injured their finger.

Johnson was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
