Police arrest a Hopkinsville man for endangerment following pursuit

Hopkinsville Police arrested 30-year-old Tavian Spencer of Hopkinsville on Sunday after he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and led law enforcement on a pursuit.

According to a report, Spencer was traveling eastbound on East 18th Street where he drove through a stop sign before turning north onto Walnut Street. Responding officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on Spencer’s vehicle, but he allegedly fled.

Spencer fled from law enforcement toward East 9th Street where he reportedly disregarded a traffic light. While fleeing, Spencer went on to allegedly reach speeds of 73 mph in a 25-mph zone; disregard multiple stop signs; sideswipe a car and turned off his vehicle’s lights to evade officers.

Officers located Spencer at residence on Greenville Road after he reportedly struck a parked car. Officers reported that he smelled like alcohol, had no car insurance and did not own the car he was driving.

Spencer was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, disregarding a traffic control device, reckless driving and two counts of driving on a DUI suspended license.
