Pedestrian killed in Hopkins County collision

A Nebo man was killed in a vehicle versus pedestrian collision Monday afternoon on Manitou Road in Hopkins County.

That’s according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, which reports it happened around 5 p.m. when 23-year-old Gage Forehand of Mississippi was heading north on Manitou while it was dark and actively raining. Forehand told officers there were also vehicles heading his way and it was hard to see.

He advised he saw someone walking in the roadway but was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Forehand called 911—the pedestrian, 44-year-old David Berry of Nebo, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner.
