Pearson named Woman of the Year, three scholarships awarded at celebration

The Human Rights Commission handed out awards and scholarships Thursday night at the 2024 Women’s History Month Celebration. 

The event was hosted at Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium, and the 2024 Fannie Bronson Postell Woman of the Year went to Linda Pearson. A former educator and business owner in the community, officials call Pearson an encourager and true inspiration throughout the community. 

Thanks to generous donations from the community this year, the commission was able to award three scholarships to three local young women from their Women Educating Women Scholarship Fund—Caroline Payne, Kylie Batts and Haylee Jarosz.
