The Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) was presented with the Kentucky Emergency Management Association’s Catalyst Award at this year’s Kentucky Emergency Services Conference in Louisville.
According to a news release, the award recognizes agencies for their work toward advancing emergency management and disaster resilience.
Over the summer, PeADD gifted each emergency management office in the Pennyrile region with a drone unit to support response and recovery efforts following natural disasters. PeADD also hosted drone training.
The drone program was made possible with a grant from the U.S. Education Development Administration. The grant also supported the establishment of a Disaster Resilience Coordinator position.
PeADD Executive Director Jason Vincent says their mission has always been to strengthen communities through collaboration and innovation, and this award reinforces the importance of investing in weather resilience.
