After announcing the establishment of the Emergency Management Drone Program, the Pennyrile Area Development District hosted drone training for regional emergency officials on Monday.
According to a news release, each of the nine Emergency Management offices in the Pennyrile Region received a drone unit to support response and recovery efforts following natural disasters. The program and training were made possible by a $588,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
PeADD’s Director of Community and Economic Development, Amy Frogue says the program is a major step toward strengthening the region’s resilience and ability to respond to severe weather events.
