Heritage Christian Academy wasted a tremendous pitching performance from Jayden Nichols and fell 2-1 to host Russellville Tuesday in a high school baseball game.
Nichols pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and allowing only two hits.
However, the Panthers scored on a passed ball with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the win.
Russellville opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning. That lead held until the top of the seventh when the Warriors’ Chase Cook scored on a passed ball to tie the game. Cook had reached on an error, stole second base and advanced to third on an error.
Collin Outland had the only hit of the game for the Warriors.
HCA slipped to 2-4 on the season and will return to action Monday night at University Heights Academy in an All “A” Region 2 Tournament game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame Show will be 7:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
